The Samsung Wave Is A Versatile New Handset

The Samsung S8500 Wave was recently released and received a warm welcome due to its

unique and appealing styling along with its great list of specifications. Touch screen navigation, Wi-Fi internet connection and a 5 mega pixel camera are just some of the standard features on offer with the Samsung Wave.

The 3.3 inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen is capable of displaying up to 16M colours within its pixel resolution of 480x800. This means the display quality of on screen content is very high so is great for viewing video and photos. An accelerometer sensor is built in as standard, allowing the screen to rotate automatically based on the orientation of the phone. This means the phone can be viewed in both portrait and landscape forms.

Connections to the internet and cellular networks are provided by a number of methods. In all but the most isolated locations, class 10 versions of EDGE and GPRS are called upon for cellular network connections. In areas covered by 3G, HSDPA provides an internet connection at speeds of up to 7.2 mega bytes per second (alongside HSUPA at 2 mega bytes per second). A faster internet connection can be obtained by utilising Wi-Fi, which takes advantage of wireless internet routers when available, to provide a faster internet connection at broadband speeds, therefore providing an enhanced web browsing experience.

Several different formats of both music and video files are supported by the internal media player. A stereo FM radio player and a selection of pre-installed games are also provided to keep users entertained for hours on end, along with access to a library of downloadable games. An organiser, image editor and voice memo recorder are all provided as standard for everyday productivity.

The camera offers 5 mega pixels, and operates at a pixel resolution of 2592x1944 pixels, so the level of detail and clarity within still images is very high. Autofocus and LED flash are included to simplify the task of taking great snapshots, no matter what the lighting conditions. The camera can also hoot video of course, and this is in 720p quality at a rate of 30 frames per second. The video function includes continuous autofocus and a video light, so video footage is of a similarly high quality to still images.

Standard vibration and ringing are the alert types on offer within the Samsung S8500 Wave. The option to utilise MP3 music files as ringtones is included which allows users to customise their phone in order to hear the song of their choice each time the phone rings.

The Samsung Wave is relatively compact at 118x56x10.9mm and is light weight at just 118 grams. Its slimline profile and light weight make it both pocket friendly and comfortable to hold and use. Its styling is unique with a charcoal grey finish tastefully complemented by silver detailing on the buttons.

Samsung have a reputation for producing quality touch screen handsets and the S8500 Wave is certainly no exception. It impressive list of functionality and unique design mean Samsung is surely on to a winner.
