The Search For Dental Remedies Continue

If people would just brush their teeth, a disease which this dentist tries to cure would be virtually eliminated

. He says that 28 million suffer from gum disease or periodontitis in the United States.

A lot of people will be affected by this gum disease which would turn their teeth unhealthy during the prime of life. Based on the University of Washington's center for research in oral biology, spending $5 billion a year on dental purposes alone clearly shows that Americans are affected by this disease even if it is not fatal.

Research in electrical engineering and biochemistry as well as medicine and dentistry studies include the interdisciplinary fight against gum disease. Although according to their research, regular brushing and flossing of the teeth are still the best preventive measures.

The bone holds the teeth through a connective tissue called collagen. Collagen acts like wires but if anything disturbs it, it will lead to the loosening and possible loss of the teeth which is caused by plaque.

This happens because plaque carries 99 percent of microorganisms or bugs. As a result, it induces inflammation of the gums and the supporting structure beneath.

The bacteria colonizes on the surface of the teeth and without proper brushing and dental flossing they soon expand into mini states, maxi nations and join together as tooth conquerors. Still, the search for a cure goes on and more people become persistent to look for an efficient treatment. But good news from Europe came about a mouthwash which could prevent plaque build up by killing bacteria.

The way that the British Army cleaned surgical equipment back in World War II was to use bactericide chlorohexidine. It was actually applied as a mouthwash by a Danish scientist which seemed to have worked but still with a few disadvantages.

One of its flaws was that it stains the teeth black after a moment of applying it. Also, the inability to taste for a limited time will be the effect, said the scientist.

A major effect that this drug brings is the potential risk of developing cancer brought about by the structure of this molecule. Although for a long period of time, we take drugs with this kind of molecular structure and even inject it in animals and now, it is founded to cause cancer.

And there is yet another problem with the drug. It can bring too much cleanliness in your mouth.

Assuming you could kill all the bugs by sterilizing your mouth. Our entire gastrointestinal is full of bugs. In reality, they are significant to the metabolism of the human system, to the aiding of digestion, and they produce Vitamin K.

I honestly don't know if it would obtain a positive or negative effect if we could get a drug that kills plaque only. If bacteria could outsmart drugs, I personally will put my dollar on it.

Virtually all gum disease is brought on by neglect. Brushing will work if they do it.

In fact, it is treatable if they only observe proper dental hygiene. But I don't think the public will actually do something about it.
