It is happening now! Most likely right in your own office! They come into work looking harmless and have a smile on their face
. They look around and see who is already there. They spot an empty desk. Moving casually towards it they keep a watchful eye out for the desks owner but no one is coming yet. They get closer and then in a whirr of motion they strike! Before you know it something has changed around that desk and if they are really good you may even have a hard time figuring out what just happened.
Its called office wars and it is a major issue for companies around the world! When you hear office wars you may be thinking about Die Hard with Bruce Willis where terrorists take over the office building and there is an all out war with bombs and bullets and everything else, but that is a far different war than what I am referring to here. The war that I am talking about; you have probably been involved in. While this war is completely different from what is described above it can be no less destructive and chaotic. It is the war over the ever so humble office chair!
We fight over them all the time! If your office is anything like mine you will find that office chairs will often migrate from one desk to another as people will find the best ones and move them around with them. If you are lucky enough to have a private work area then you may get to keep your own chair and maybe the company will even let you bring your own chair to work just for your use. Why is this war of the office chair being raged? It is because of what we do at work most of the time. We sit just like I am now writing this article and you are while reading it.
