The Sony Ericsson Vivaz has recently been made the subject of a UK TV advertising campaign

, suggesting Sony Ericsson has high hopes for this stunning handset. This comes as no surprise when one takes a look at the spec list, which includes an 8.1 mega pixel camera, touch screen technology, and super fast web browsing.

Vibration and ringing are the alert styles on offer with the Vivaz, with the option to select MP3 music files to be assigned as ringtones. This allows users to customise their handset so they can hear their favourite song whenever the phone rings. A speakerphone system is pre-installed along with a standard 3.5mm headset jack which offers options for handsfree communication.

The dimensions of the Sony Ericsson Vivaz are pocket friendly at 107x51.7x12.5mm and weighs in at just 97 grams making it comfortable to hold and use on the move. It is finished in silver as standard, however Black, Red, and Blue colour variants are also available, so will appeal to those who view their phones as a fashion statement.

As mentioned, the Vivaz packs a powerful 8.1 mega pixel camera, which takes high quality snapshots and video footage. This operates at a pixel resolution of 3264x2448 pixels, for a high level of detail and clarity within the images. An assortment of image enhancing features including autofocus, LED flash, touch focus and face and smile detection all combine to make the task of taking great pictures a breeze. Video is shot in 720p quality at a rate of 24 frames per second.


Internal memory is 75 MB of storage as standard, which allows ample storage for a good number of files such as music tracks. A micro SD slot in included in the Vivaz for the same purpose which comes with a pre-installed 8 GB card as standard. Should further storage be required, this can be removed and replaced with a card of up to 16 GB, ample to store most music collections, for example.

The Sony Ericsson Vivaz really comes into its own on the display front. The TFT resistive touch screen measures 3.2 inches, and is currently one of only a few phones which can display on screen content in high definition. Up to 16M colours can be displayed within the pixel layout of 360x640 pixels. An accelerometer auto-rotate function and handwriting recognition are additional features of the impressive screen.


As you might expect from a phone of the Vivaz calibre, a number of connectivity methods are utilised in order to stay connected to cellular networks and the internet. A fast internet connection is provided in areas covered by 3G thanks to a HSDPA connection at speeds of up to 10.2 mega bytes per second (alongside HSUPA at 2 mega bytes per second). A faster internet connection and therefore an enhanced web browsing experience can be achieved whenever in the presence of a wireless internet router. Wi-Fi utilises the signal provided by these for a connection at broadband speeds.

The Sony Ericsson Vivaz ticks all the boxes, from its styling and size, to touch screen navigation, not forgetting the super impressive camera. All these features mean the Vivaz is sure to remain a popular handset for some time.
