The Sony Ericsson Vivaz-a Closer Look

Fresh for the spring of 2010, Sony Ericsson have launched they're newest handset

, the Vivaz.

The Sony Ericsson Vivaz features an extremely high end camera facility. Boasting a resolution of 8.1 mega pixels it is capable of shooting great high definition videos in 720p resolution. The Sony Ericsson Vivaz features a symbian s60/s1 operating system, the kind found on the Nokia X6 and N97, and the added 8GB memory stick offers lots of storage capacity for these videos. The impressive handset is designed to fit the contours of the hand and offers a great range of multi media and networking features which will give the Nokia X6 a run for its money. Along with its great design the Vivaz is very lightweight (due to the large content of plastic in its construction) with smooth and elegant surfaces. This attractive phone is available in four different colour combinations. Perhaps on minus point is the fact that the touchscreen is resistive, thus requiring a fair amount of pressure from the user. However the screen is responsive and navigation through menus is easy. The minimalist look is maintained due to the lack of physical buttons on the handset.

The Sony Ericsson Vivaz features a symbian s60/s1 operating system, the kind found on the Nokia X6 and N97. The handset offer neat and functional menu screens, however the sub menus can sometimes appear a little too laden with options. A way of overcoming this is to take advantage of the customisable home screen. The home screen features five widget tabs which you can assign to your favourite functions, i.e social networking sites. The in built multi tasking feature makes navigating between menus easier, however performance is inevitably slowed down by having to many menus open at once. Sony Ericsson's "PlayNow" application store allows the user to download their own choice of games music and apps. Although not cheap, there is some free material available.

Unlike most touchscreen handsets the numeric keypad screen is easily accessible from the home screen. Simply pressing the call button re directs you straight to the contact list. This contact list is also customisable so you can group certain friends together and place a shortcut to them on your homescreen. Various messaging formats are catered for on the Sony Ericsson Vivaz. The messaging menu shows SMS conversations in a handy thread format. E Mails are automatically updated thanks to Push notifications, however should you choose you can have them updated at set intervals.

Thanks to its excellent MultiMedia functions, especially the camera coupled with its colour choices and Sonys excellent marketing, the Vivaz looks set to become one of the best selling handsets of 2010.
