The Sony Xperia S-a Look At Programmes Installed On The Phone
Since Sony parted company with Ericsson, the developer who they co produced dozens
of mobile handsets with over the past few years, they have released a handful a really exceptional smartphones. The most impressive is undoubtedly the Sony Xperia S, the premium model in their new line up. This model features some excellent hardware but we want to focus our attention on the software that comes installed on this new device.
The Sony Xperia S comes supplied with an excellent selection of software that caters for a variety of different uses. The main software used by the model is of course the operating system and the model boasts the very latest version of the Android platform. This has been affectionately named the Ice Cream Sandwich version and it boasts a number of improvements over previous versions including an improved lock screen and a new task manager feature that enables you to keep track on what programmes the phone is currently running. In terms of applications there are some really excellent titles installed on the phone. One of our favourites is the Google Navigation app which takes full advantage of the Google maps service to deliver a superb piece of software which can easily take the place of a stand alone satellite navigation device. An improved GPS chip is used inside the Xperia S and this ensures that the exact position of the phone can me located in a fraction of a second. Many phones experience a delay when using navigation services and this often results in user missing turns but no such problems should be encountered on the Xperia S.
The Sony Xperia S includes some applications that are strongly linked to other Sony products and endorsements. A great example of this is the innovative new Media Remote software which allows the phone to control compatible Sony televisions and home entertainment equipment. This application also enables users to easily display media files from their device on the television screen. Sony are official sponsors for the UEFA Champions League football competition so as you would expect users also have free access to the official application which delivers news and scores from the competition directly to the phone. For people who like to used more office based software then there is a free version of the Officesuite application. This proves excellent for viewing important documents although if you want to create and edit your own material you will need to purchase the full version from the Google Play store.
The Sony Xperia S is an excellent phone that compliments some great hardware with a good selection of software that comes installed on the phone. The new ICS Android platform is an obvious attraction of the model while applications such as Google Navigation and the Media Remote offer simple interfaces with excellent functionality.
