The Southwest Has A Long History With Spain

If you are a golf enthusiast, no vacation would be complete without playing a few rounds

. Here are some recommendations for some great golf destinations in the U.S.

Myrtle Beach is perhaps the top golf vacation spot in the nation. This South Carolina location has more than 100 golf courses, many of them on the beaches and coastline of the Atlantic reminiscent of properties in La Manga. Its mild climate averages more than 200 days of sun each year. Many famous tournaments have taken place here. When you are done with your round, take advantage of the lively nightlife: Clubs, bars, shows are all here for you to enjoy.

Nearby Myrtle Beach is the small but wonderful Hilton Head Island. This 12-mile-long resort spot has 22 great golf courses. When you are not on the links, visit Palmetto Dunes Plantation or Pinckney Island National Wildlife Preserve. There's plenty to see and enjoy on this beautiful island.

The Midwest boasts a surprising number of golf destinations. The state of Michigan is often considered a golf Mecca. There are several prime courses throughout the state, along with beautiful scenery and outdoor activities. In neighboring Wisconsin, Sheboygan also has championship level golf that is within easy reach of Chicago and Milwaukee.

If you prefer out West for your golfing vacation, try Phoenix, Arizona. This desert region has more than 100 courses, many within easy reach of other travel amenities. You will enjoy southwestern culture with its Native American influences. Phoenix, as the capital of the state, offers all the big-city attractions you could want, including concerts, museums, bed-and-breakfast inns etc. You will also enjoy the historic influences, reminders of the conquistadors and missionaries of Spain.

While most people think of Colorado for skiing, you can also enjoy great high-altitude golf in Colorado Springs. Some say the altitude can make your ball go up to 10 percent further. That's something to consider if you want to have your longest drive ever.

Golfing is always a gamble, so why not golf and gamble in the same location: Las Vegas? Spend the day golfing in the Spring Mountains, and then spend the nights at the casinos, gambling or taking in the shows. A golf vacation in Las Vegas can be a trip you will long remember

California is the place you want to be for a luxurious golf trip. The Baja Peninsula has plenty resorts, hotels, shops and other attractions to make your stay memorable. With everything there is to do there, you may find it hard to find time for a game of golf. The beaches and resorts will make you think you are living in Spain. Parts of Califiornia are very similar to La Manga properties in Spain.

These are only some of the great locations for a golf vacation. When planning a trip, be sure to leave room for your clubs, they want a vacation too. A round of golf will add an extra special dimension to your trip.
