The Spotlight Is On You, Hugh!

Jackmans life has been all about stepping stones. The Australian born actor was raised by his father, who was an accountant, and was raising Hughs four other siblings when his mother went back to England. He was a regular kid with no thoughts of theater in his head, what he wanted to be when he grew up was a journalist, actually. It was while going to college and getting his BA in communications did he take a drama class that sparked his love of the stage. He dug deep and decided he wanted to make a living out of acting so he attended the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts and upon graduation, he was offered his first role in a mini-series where he met his wife.

Along the way, he and Deborra-Lee hit a few bumps in their road and adopted two amazing children, Oscar and Ava. Hugh is just like any other dad, having family outings and short nights of sleep. But not all dads are used as a chick magnet! Oscar is quite good at opening his pick up lines with, My dad is Wolverine. Jackman says that his wife was the best thing to come out of that series he did those years ago.

We fell for the tough guy on the screen when Hugh appeared as Wolverine in the X-Men movies. He was a man hardened by circumstances but you couldnt help but love him. This character was so out of the norm for him that Jackman studied the comics and watched the movements of boxers, working with a coach to help him understand some of the darkness within this character. It was very much like pulling the drawing from the pages of the books and making him come to life, voice and all.

Since then, we have enjoyed him in many other adventures like Van Helsing, Kate and Leopold, Swordfish, The Prestige, Australia, and Real Steel. Watch them if you havent seen them, or watch them again if you have! One that should be fabulous is the upcoming Les Miserable! But Hugh is not limited to only on screen acting, he has narrated documentaries and voiced animated characters. He has proven to be extremely versatile in the industry.

One quality about Hugh Jackman that should be admired is his sense of charity. He is very involved in several causes and uses social media to reach out to the public for charitable drives. This makes him very endearing as a person. The effort he makes to help others is noticed and is appreciated by those on the other end of his support.

So we see how Hugh has made choices in his life, to step from one stone to the next until he has graced us with his talents. Like the rest of us, I am sure there are always stones in his path and choices he makes. Heres to taking those that continue leading him into the spotlight.
