The Starry Colors Express The World Of Van Gogh
Vincent van Gogh once wrote looking at the stars always makes me dream Why
, I ask myself, shouldnt the shining dots of the sky be as accessible as the black dots on the map of France? Just as we take the train to get to Tarascon or Rouen, we take death to reach a star. If art is a dazzling star for van Gogh, it took his life to get it.
He was not just everyman who paint to remember images he saw. Or to put it still another way, nothing he saw was just a placid scene. He painted to root his memory and imagination and chaos in his mind as well. Every stroke of his, thus not only was a dab of color, but also a field of energy.
His got his passion from the world he existed and the people he knew. For him, every single person left a room for strong reaction. This kind of reaction was nothing like a childs. The letter he wrote to his dearest younger brother Theo was the most touching story of a born artist. He admitted that he had extraordinary intuition. Although most of the colors he used intend to convey the characters, love for nature and joy during the process of expressing himself, he was quite sensitive about dark colors, so when he wrote about The Night Caf he said I tried to use red and green to reveal peoples horrible passion. The dark green ceiling, the scarlet wall and the discordant green furniture all made up a nightmare. The painting was a conflicting between the perspective space and the aggressive colors which led to a terrifying, closed and pressurize experience. The Night Caf is case in point of the breathtaking surrealism.
We can find the familiar golden yellow in the Wheatfield with Crows, although in an uneasy and gloomy way. The dark blue sky over the wheat field was covered by thick gray clouds, air seems freeze. Even when you are looking at it outside the picture, it feels like it is hard to take a single breathe. Crows were circling over head; the horizon was like a rough ocean. Strained and ominous feelings flew naturally out of it, as if the image is a suicide note. Some people believe that the strange shape of cloud and the road is a distorted image of Death. Whatever we guess about the painting, van Gogh, the brilliant painter shot himself the day after he finish this work, and died painfully two days later.
We dont know why the talent chose to end his life in his early thirties, but we are lucky enough to see the haze but also blaze in his works. Vase with Twelve Sunflowers always evokes viewers dream of a beautiful world with hope, although this dream world slip off the painters finger as he tried really hard to seize it.
