, collared polo shirt has led an active and illustrious life. Traditionally worn by polo players during their matches, it was originally developed by tennis pro Rene Lacoste. Polo shirts today are a very popular choice among men and women for all sorts of events, types of functions and days. It is available for men, women and nowadays for kids as well. The reason it is called Polo shirt has something to do back in 1800s. During those days, polo players came up with this shirt design and wore them for their games. Later it was spread to different sports of that of tennis, golf. Today, it is worn in a more casual manner.
The most characteristic feature of the polo shirt lies in the superior quality of its fabric. It is made out of only the best pique knit fabric. The fabric is known for its breathability; it helps to keep your body cool through the hot days and gives you the utmost comfort while wearing it. Traditionally it used only by polo players during their games. And so no one ever dared to wear it outside a polo game. But then, this tradition was broken by Rene Lacoste during one of her tennis game in 1926.
She opened her own line of clothing, after she retired from the game. Thus the brand Lacoste that produced polo shirts came into being. The production of these polo shirts was long before the brand Lacoste started producing them. It was amongst the first few brands to produce them. In 1933, they first started producing polo shirts by bulk in France. Gradually it hit the lands of the United States by the 1950s. From there on, the style of polo shirts picked up and people started wearing them on casual basis.
Polo Shirts are ideal for a relaxed casual look because they do not require ironing and very easy to keep clean. It exudes higher level of comfort which is much in demand for the active lifestyle today, which was the original purpose of the garment.
Even after it still retaining its glorious position in the sports world, this garment is used for everything from collegiate attire to work and school uniforms. They are personalized by embroidering the brand logo on the left side of the shirt, thus the brand recognition.
