However, many attribute the slope's gravity-defying propensities to the presence of magnetic fields and optical illusions. Since these are yet only theories and speculation, the Slope is regarded as global mystery.

The Strange Slope, together with the peculiar resonance of the Xiangshan and Wongding hills found close by comprises the "Three Mysteries" of the region. The presence of not one but three scientifically baffling natural phenomena in the same vicinity is in itself another coincidence that challenges modern humanity's faith in the laws of nature as we know them.
