The Styling Method Of Curls Of The Years

The importance of having beautiful hair has not being a recent phase with women but instead it"s gone on for centuries

. The only thing that has changed is the way women style their hair with different tools.

In the Eighteenth Century the days of Marie Antoinette, she was a member of the Royal court who enjoyed spending hours of styling and maintenance on her hair and make-up.

These were the days of large sculptured and powdered hair and, the hairstyles would take hours to style. The sculptured hair would often need a hair stylist and many assistants to help use the wire, tow, wool and pads to keep everything in place. These up-dos would take so much effort to style and, once finished powder was blown onto the hair, as in the 1770"s nobody dared to show their faces without it.

You would often see curls draping down the backs of these women"s huge sculptured hair, often enough these curls where created through the styling method of using rags. The rags were often old material torn up into strips, you would then take a strip of hair and twist it round, the rag would be tied to the bottom of the hair and, it would roll the twisted hair up to the scalp to be tied into a knot. Once the rags have been left to set, which was usually an over night period, once they were untied it would release a perfect ringlet.

It wasn"t until the late 1800"s that the culring iron was invented and this was a much easier way to style hair in comparison to using rags. The 1800"s was when the style of fashion altered from the huge poofy dresses to the empire line dress which nipped you in at the waist and, stayed straight and floaty all the way down to your ankles. The hair style changed along with the fashion, it was no longer about the huge sculptured and powered look but, instead it was simple curled up-dos which oozed femininity and class.

As time passed on the curling iron developed more, as well as hair straighteners which are now advanced enough to curl your hair by using a certain styling technique. There is even a new styling tool called a Twiddle Stic which you wrap your hair around and straighten over. This allows your hair to stay amazingly curly and last for days. Many celebrities opt for the curled look such as Kate Hudson, Jessica Simpson and Sarah Jessica Parker who always have perfect and beautifully styled hair.
