The Summer Is Almost Here - Check Out These Cheap Notebooks For Wireless Working Outside

If you seem to spend all of your time around your laptop

, whether it's for playing the latest PC games, chatting online with your friends or carrying out work, during the winter working from a laptop can be great. You can cuddle up on the sofa, plug your laptop battery lead in and sit with a warm drink for hours on end, without worrying about whether your battery is going to run out or how big and heavy the laptop is for when walking home with it.

In the summer, however, things are a little different. Whilst you will still want to be doing exactly the same things on your laptop as you did in the winter, you don't want to be stuck inside but although notebooks are meant to be portable, it's only in recent times that they are actually living up to their name.

For example, when they were first introduced to the market, they were bulky, heavy, had a poor battery life, didn't support wireless internet and were often more expensive than a desktop PC.

Things have changed considerably over the past few years, however and if you purchase a relatively new notebook - with some bargains able to be found in notebook auctions - you can move outside seamlessly, without having any of the worries that you once had.

These three notebooks are some of the best on the market for portable working and although their new versions may be cost more than you would ideally like to pay, cheap variations can be found in notebook auctions and they should all allow you to work effectively outside for hours on end.

1. Dell Mini 10 - available for under 200 pounds if you opt for a refurbished model, the Dell Mini 10 is one of the smallest and lightest notebooks currently on the market, weighing little over 1kg and having a small but functional 10" screen. Combine this with a respectable 1.60GHZ Intel Atom processor, a 160GB hard drive and 1024MB of DDR RAM and you've grabbed yourself an instant bargain.

2. Compaq Presario CQ61 - originally 460 pounds, a lot of retailers have reduced the cost of this Presario by over 130 pounds in recent months, meaning you can now pick on up for around 330 pounds.

Featuring 2048MB of DDR2 RAM, a 250GB hard drive and a 2.1GHZ AMD Sempron processor, although it may be bigger than the Dell Mini 10, with a 15.6" screen, it is still just as portable for outside working (although it will see a reduced battery life compared to the Mini 10, simply because it is a more powerful notebook).

3. Asus Eee PC - one of the most important factors of a portable notebook is the battery life. As light as it may be, if the notebook you're buying struggles to last more than an hour without being plugged in to the mains, it's going to be more worthwhile buying a desktop PC.

Fortunately, there are some notebooks out there with fantastic battery life and the Asus Eee PC is one of them, with officially figures stating it has a staggering 11 hours battery life. Although this will decrease the more programs you use, a notebook with even half of this battery life would be enough for most.

Plus, with a 160 GB hard drive, 1GB of RAM and available for under 240 pounds in notebook auctions, it's an absolute bargain of a buy.
