The Superb Samsung Galaxy Nexus And The Iphone 4s-a Comparison Of The Two
Two of the heavyweights of the mobile phone world have gone head to head by releasing new handsets in time for the traditionally busy festive period
. Samsung and Apple have unveiled brand new premium devices in the form of the Galaxy Nexus and the iPhone 4S. We take a look at both of these new devices and see which one proves the most impressive.
There is no question that both of these phones are amongst the most stylish handsets currently available. The Galaxy Nexus looks similar to previous Nexus devices but slightly enlarged thanks to the bigger screen that the model uses. This means that the attractive curved design is once again present as is a lack of buttons on the fascia of the phone leaving the touchscreen to deal with all operation. The iPhone 4S sports exactly the same body as its predecessor. This glass design still looks modern despite being over one year old but many consumer will opt for the curves of the Nexus over the angular finish offered by the Apple phone. Many models have tried to match the iPhone 4S for screen technology and all have failed but that was before the arrival of the Galaxy Nexus. The 720 x 1280 resolution used by the Super AMOLED display on the Samsung eclipses the superb quality that the 640 x 960 resolution offers on the 4S. This model is the first mobile to offer an HD quality display and sets a new benchmark for future smartphones to try and better. The Samsung has a 4.6 inch display which is over one inch larger than the iPhone 4S screen but because of the higher resolution the final pixel density is very similar on both models.
Consumers are given plenty of storage options with both of these models. The Samsung Galaxy Nexus is available in a 16GB or a 32GB version with should cover a broad spectrum of users. The phone lacks the option of using a micro SD card slot meaning that the total storage capacity cannot be expanded. The iPhone 4S also does not support an external card but comes in three different sizes at 16GB, 32GB and 64GB. The 64GB machine gives the largest built in capacity of any phone and should appeal to people looking to load their device with lots of HD movie footage. There little to choose between these handsets in terms of performance power. The Samsung uses a high power 1.2Ghz dual core processor whilst the Apple phone uses a slightly smaller 1Ghz chip. Despite the slight difference in speed the iPhone 4S benefits from a power efficient operating system which means it can really use its processor to its maximum potential. When all is said and done you will be hard pressed to find any difference between these phones in this department.
Both of these models are excellent smartphones which really set the pace for other phones to keep up with. If you had to choose an overall winner from these two handsets then you would have to pick the Galaxy Nexus with its gorgeous display and striking design but there really is little to chose between these great new devices.
