The Switch From Schoolbooks To Laptops

The methods students study and work is being changed by advancements in technology

. Traditional methods for studying are being pushed out of schools and are paving the way for computers and internet interaction. We see this in college, universities, grade school and high schools. Some of us like the idea technology is working into schooling, and some of us do not. Whichever side you are on, there are pros and cons.

We all know and remember the physical problems carrying tons of books creates. For instance, children have been complaining of back, neck and shoulder problems that are directly related to carrying too many books, even in a backpack. This poses a cause for concern. Now, if the student brings along one small e-book or notebook that is all they will have to worry about carrying all day.

Another thing to think about is cost. College students know that books are sold at enormous prices. In grade school or high school often the case is presented that there are just not enough books. And then there is the topic of new editions, seemingly a ploy to get people to buy more. They just add a few things to an older version, and require these instead of reusing older ones.

They sell books online at a cheaper price than regular books. There are also websites that are basically what people are used to as a book only they get updated more often and at no greater charge. Many people say that it is too expensive for some people to have laptops or tablets for all of their children. They are also concerned with having to pay for internet service on these computers.

You could argue both points. Our lifestyles, though, are morphing from technological advancements. Think about the small amount of cell phones in the beginning, and how most everyone has one. People of all ages will soon own portable pc's. Their capacity for information is enormous. Notebooks provide ease of use, access to homework and the ability to study in one place. This is extremely efficient.
