The Tale Of A Damaged Ankle - A Cautinary Tale About The Results Of The Wrong Shoes

BBA (Before Broken Ankle): I enjoy an active daily life and love hiking and cycling

, getting out in the wonderful outdoors is 1 of my favorite pastimes.

Day 1: Enjoyed a charming hike with my companion and the author's canine - Cindy, wearing my recently purchased wellingtons as there had been considerable showers during the previous few days. Probably I ought to have looked where I was going as I trip, falling badly and (it comes about) break my right anklebone in four places.

Im transported to hospital and following the usual wait in A&E Im sent to a ward as I need surgery.

Day 2: Im weary following being up all night and stresses of the day before, so very soon its operation time, Im to head to theatre at around 10am and am returned to my room by 1pm along with pins and a metal plate in my anklebone. Theres not long to wait around before my partner visits along with stuff to keep me occupied and to bring get well soon regards from our close friends. I am now feeling very tired after the surgery though, and so my other half goes back home again in order to let me get some sleep.

Day 3: Im to be sent out today, hurrah, so my parents are on the way to collect me. I am to live with them right up until I am steadier on my feet (you are never ever too old to be supported by their relatives), my partner is out earning all day naturally therefore worries I could trip when I am on my own.

The only trouble is, that they reside in the Yorkshire Dales, which is driving me unhappy since it reminds me of what I am missing out on. All I would like to do is pull-on my walking boots and start a nice long walk in the country.

Days 4-11: It is not very fast improvement and as a result I easily am downhearted with the predicament however with the support of my dad and mom and partner I imagine I am getting more powerful every day. Im a lot more happy with the crutches and even manage to cook a dinner. The superb country side is nevertheless calling though, The canine and I are keen to go outdoor for some refreshing air.

Day 12: A check up at the physicians and the planned day for me to move back to my home, I am assured enough now to be at home alone.

Day 12-45: Being home presents a new collection of risks, it is tough to carry anything on crutches so if I desire a glass of water I have to swallow it at the kitchen area work top. Theres little housework I are able to do therefore my other half has to do all of it.

Bathing and showering are difficult nevertheless it feels less difficult the more I do it.

I nonetheless get upset at times, in particular when my injury impedes me from undertaking activities that are as a rule so straightforward such as proceeding to the bar with friends.

Day 46: Finally the date I've been yearning for, my plaster is removed today! I am to tackle a period of physiotherapy and need to very carefully manage how I weightbear on my leg once again but this appears to be a major move onward.

Day 47 Onwards and upwards: I am desperate to go for a walk or cycle but I follow Doctor's instructions and take it easy.
