The Tango: A Ballroom Dance

Are you one of those people who feel intimidated by the thought of learning to dance

? Why? It's a great way to meet new friends, a great way to start out on a fitness regime or just to learn a new skill. Don't sit in front of the TV night after night. Make the effort and you will be rewarded with an enormous amount of fun and enjoyment. But where do you start?

There are plenty of different dance styles to study and learn, and one of the most popular is the tango. The tango is a style of dance that is influenced by African and Spanish cultures. There are multiple different styles of the dance, such as Tango argentino, Tango orillero, Finnish tango, Tango liso, and many others. The reason that there are so many different styles is because of the fact that the dance has evolved in response to multiple cultural elements, which includes fashions in clothing, as well as crowding at the venue. If you are interested in tango dance lessons, you will learn about open and close embrace.

In the open embrace, there is space between the bodies of lead and follow, while the bodies are connected in the close embrace. Either way, the dance itself is one that you can really enjoy no matter what part of the world you are in, which makes taking tango dance lessons very worthwhile. When you begin lessons, you will learn about moving in a crossed and a parallel system. You will also learn the cross. It is important to understand backward and forward eight figures, and you will be taught something called the little windmill.

After understanding all these things in your dance lessons, you will be able to get some basic tango figures. And while some people may quickly pick up the motions and the movements, it takes others a longer time to learn. It is not uncommon to remain in a beginners class for up to six months, so just go at your own pace. It is better to learn the dance the right way and have fun doing it than to rush the lesson in an effort to get to the more intermediate steps. In the more advanced classes, you will learn different rhythms of the dance.

So whether you are looking at different dance lessons that you can take or you just want to learn a new style, tango is a fabulous style to learn. It is a dance that is respected around the world, and you can always expect opportunities to use it.
