Two inventors independently designed devices that could broad cast speech electrically .Both submitted their individual designs to the patent office within hours of each other. Alexander Graham Bell patented his telephone foremost.

Alexander Graham Bell and Elisha gray were the two who designed the devices to transmit speech electrically. Alexander Graham Bell won the lawful battle which was fought over the innovation of the telephone. The entry in Mr. Bells note book of 10th March 1876 describes the occurrence.
