In fact the theatre was built with the Oscars in mind. The Rockwell Group was entrusted with the designing of the $94 million project. Whilst resembling Europes grand opera houses on the one part, the Kodak Theatre nevertheless manages to exude an amazing aura of grace, elegance, charm and old fashioned opulence together with a state of the art modern outlook.

Apart from the famous red carpet event held annually, events such as the ever popular American Idol, BET Award Ceremony, Daytime Emmy Awards and even the Victoria Secret fashion show previously held in New York have been staged regularly at the Kodak Theatre.

Artists such as Mariah Carey, Christina Aguilera, Prince, the Dixie Chicks, Celine Dion, Barry Manilow, Andrea Bocelli and Elvis Costello have all held centre stage.

The theatre is also available for private functions such as weddings if needed. Apart from the month prior to the Oscars when extensive preparations are underway, the theatre is open to the public and tours featuring the history and backstage operations amongst other things create a distinctive experience.
