As a matter of fact, there is much to learn about how to maintain a leather bag. Here, I want to make a list as follows:

1.Keep it dry and save it where a good vent is available.

2.Do not have it sunned, burnt or washed or knocked or exposed to some harmful chemicals. If so, the leather bag will fade in its color and be distorted in a way.

3.As the leather bag does not go through any waterproofing treatment, it is important to have it dried with a soft cloth immediately after it gets wet. When it is a rainy day, much attention should be paid to keep it from the raindrop since any stain or water print left by the raindrop can create crapes on the surface of the bag. 4.Do not apply any random shoeshine to the leather bag.

5.Clean the leather bag with a special detergent.

6.Much care must be taken to protect all metal pieces attached to the bag. An environment with high content in moisture and salt makes oxidation possible. 7.It is best to wrap the leather bag in a cotton bag when it is not in use. Do not place it in a plastic bag as the airflow is insufficient in the plastic bag. It is best to stuff the leather bag with some soft tissues to keep its original shape. A used pillow also works well when there is no suitable cloth bag available.

8.Like a pair of leather shoes, the leather bag is active in its skin which tends to lose its own elasticity as it is being used for an increasingly longer period. Therefore, it is necessary to have several leather bags for alternative choices. In this case, the leather bags have a longer service life.

Apart from what I have mentioned above, there are also three conditions we also need to be aware of.

When the leather bag is stained with some spots, you can remove them by using a sponge which has been soak in the soap fluid or alcohol. Then, clean the bag with clean water before having it dried through air. If the stained spots can not be easily removed, some suitable detergents must be used. Much care must be taken to avoid damaging the leather while cleaning it.

Do not allow the leather bag to be exposed to the sunshine or any other heaters. Or, the leather will get increasingly drier. Furthermore, the leather will gradually lose its flexibility and softness.

During a meal, it is hard to keep any juice from splashing onto the leather bag. If it occurs, a clean cloth or sponge must be used to dry the juice as quick as possible. You can remove the juice by a cloth soaked with some hot water when it is necessary. Then, you must dry it through air as soon as possible.
