The Titanic Htc Titan
When you think about the word titan, you will think about largeness and power
. After all, the word comes from the Titans who were massive and powerful gods Zeus tried hard to imprison and that is why you have a big hulking ship called the Titanic.
So when you see the new HTC Titan, the first thing you will notice is its size and display. Manufactured by High Tech Computer Corporation, it is latest and largest Windows Mobile phone up to date. Its measurements are 132mm x 71mm x 10mm and weigh around 160 grams; it may be big but at least it does not weigh like a heavy brick. The display is a large 4.7-inch with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels. It serves as the phone's touch screen; the images viewed here are bright and sharp. It also features a gyroscope sensor, accelerometer and proximity sensor for auto turn-off.
The HTC Titan runs on the latest Microsoft Windows Phone 7 Mango and it is powered by a 1.5 GHz Scorpion processor with 512MB RAM. It has a 16 GB internal memory which sadly, cannot be expanded because of the absence of a memory card slot. Do take note though that some of the internal memory will be used up by the operating system. The battery is a standard 1600 mAh and can last up to almost 12 hours of talk time or 360 hours of standby time. It supports Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, 3G, EDGE and GPRS technologies. The HTC Titan also has two cameras. The camera at the back is an 8-megapixel camera that has an LED flash and auto focus. The camera in the front is a 1.3-megapixel camera that can be used for video calling. The 3.5mm audio jack located at the top supports Dolby Mobile and SRS sound enhancement.
The HTC Titan has a lot of features to offer. It has a MMS, email, push email and SMS with a threaded view so you can easily keep track of conversations. It has a stereo FM radio with RDS and games so you can keep boredom at bay. It can also function as a digital music player that can support different music formats like MP3, WAV, WMA and eAAC. It is also able to play various video formats like MP4, WMV and H.263. With the HTC Titan, you can have easy access to your Facebook and Twitter accounts so tagging and tweeting will be a breeze. It also has a Youtube client so you can watch your favorite videos whenever you want. Doing office work will be easy with the Pocket Office that comes with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote and PDF viewer. The user interface of the HTC Titan is different from other smartphones though and it will take you some time to get used to it.
Reviews of the HTC Titan have been generally good. The reviewers like the size of the phone and screen and remarked on how light it is despite the size. However, some are wondering if this flagship phone of the Windows Mobile is enough to knock the competition off its socks.
The HTC Titan will be available in October 2011.
