Today, the Sassi have been classified as a legacy by UNESCO and provide a fascinating insight into Italys first human residents.

To escape the heat and the crowds, head down into the Frasassi Gorge which will lead you through a 75 minute walk amidst one of the most magnificent Karst structures in the world. As you wander through comfortably wide walkways alive with theatrical lighting, you can discover and experience a remarkable example of natural creation which boasts stunning stalagmites and stalactites. 5.Grotto Azzurra

This adventure truly is a stunning experience. The cavern is filled with sparkling blue waters that, when the sun peaks through the small opening, reflect a luminous neon colour whilst any object immersed in the water glows in a silvery light. Ranging between seven and fourteen metres high, there is plenty to enjoy whilst you gentle rock atop the calm water in a three-person rowing boat.
