Half-hoop earrings. Half hoops are a sub-category of the resilient hoop earrings that are always popular amongst both men and women. These earrings consist of a half hoop that is attached to a post or wire that goes through the ear and attaches to the other side of the hoop. The hoop earrings popular in 2011 mostly feature diamond and other gemstones in different sizes and shapes, with the most popular being round and princess cut diamond set in a pave or three-stone setting.
