The Trials And Tribulations Of Working From Home
While many women want to stay at home with their children
, many feel there is simply no way that they could handle staying with children and trying to earn an income. The truth is, it is often overwhelming and after one day at home trying to juggle work and kids, you may feel as though you were run over by a truck. On the other hand, it can also be very rewarding. If you are contemplating becoming one of the work at home moms, you may first want to consider the trails and tribulations of those mothers who are successful at it.
Work at home moms often feel very overwhelmed in trying to figure out how to best schedule their time. Young children need constant care and they may feel guilty for sticking their young child in front of the television, so they can have a little quiet time to get their work completed. What you must realize is that a little bit isn't going to hurt.
However, putting them in front of the television all day is not going to work. Instead, create other activities that they can enjoy while you are working or hook up with some other mothers who are doing what you do to switch off some time. This will allow each of you time to actually work in a quiet home.
Work at home moms are also under constant pressure from their family and friends and may overwork themselves, as they understand the stigma attached to work at home moms. In fact, most of them are completely overworked and rarely have a few moments of time to themselves. When scheduling your work, be sure you schedule in a little "me" time. If not, both your work and family are going to suffer the consequences of your own frustration.
The solution is to develop good time management skills. While it will not eliminate all the chaos from a working mother's life, it can help. One of the main tools to use is your calendar. Each day, make a list of the items that must be done by you. This includes both your work and chores for home. Determine how much time each one will take and make certain your schedule is not too overloaded. As you complete the tasks, cross them off and this will help you to get motivated to get the rest of the items completed.
One of the main issues of a work from home mother is trying to get it all done by themselves. The result is usually frustration. Instead, don't be afraid to delegate some chores to other members of your family. Even younger children can help with cleaning up around the house for you. If you and your spouse have made the decision together for you to make a career at home, you both must work together in order to achieve you goals.
