It's very likely you have a spyware hidden in your computer. It doesn't matter if you've never been to any "dirty" or suspicious sites. Spyware is everywhere, sometimes even in places you trust.

Don't fret. I'm not saying they are out to get you or that you should stop visiting those websites completely. Chances are, they are clueless until someone reports it to them. Spywares can be transmitted in a number of ways, one of the most popular is via ads.

That's true...Ads can be deadly. Most sites now uses automated ad management software where the site administrators don't even look at the ad before it goes live. Unethical advertisers are known to plant malicious scritps in their ads so that when your browser displays the banner, you are secretly downloading spywares without you realizing it And that's just one way how your computer can get infected. There are so many ways that by the time I'm done listing them down here, a dozen more methods have already surfaced.

So it sounds like no matter what you do, you're left with nowhere out but just to accept that unless you completely keep your computer away without an Internet connection, you are bound to have spywares flooding it. While that may be the best way to ensure you don't get infected, know that it's still possible for spywares to invade when you plug in an infected USB drive.

But it's not the end of the world yet.

All you really need is to install a good anti-spyware software.

Anti-virus softwares may prevent viruses from attacking your computer, but spywares often bypasses their security.

Do a scan manually once a week, or set it in the anti-spyware software's schedule.

You may be surprised at how much more efficient and faster your computer will run once you've gotten rid of all the spywares lurking about.
