It is possible for this type to progress to a generalized seizure. This is something to note for the doctor.

There is the complex partial seizure which occurs differently than the rest. The dogs normal behavior will change, odd repetitive behaviors will occur. It can last just a few minutes or for several hours. Smacking of the lips, and chewing may be displayed. Excessive thirst or hunger, hiding and cowering, unusual aggressiveness and even short-term blindness are all possible behaviors.

Two types can be fatal. These are the cluster seizure and the status epilepticus seizure. With the cluster type, multiple seizures will happen in a short period of time. There will be a brief time of consciousness between episodes. A status epilepticus seizure can be one long seizure to multiple seizures like the cluster type. The difference will be that there are no periods of awareness.

During a seizure there can be times when the dog is unable to breathe. When one lasts for half an hour that is very dangerous. It is possible to find some control over certain types of seizures with medication. The treatment of dogs seizures is usually a combination of things depending on the cause.
