? Well, most importantly, you need a car! You also need a good idea of where youre going. Some people prefer to have a good solid plan of the destinations they want to visit, and roughly how long theyll spend at each. However, there is also the more happy-go-lucky type of people who just pack a suitcase, jump in their car and drive, and see where they end up.

Along with a fantastic playlist (even the chattiest of people get bored of talking sometimes), and plenty of refreshments for the journey, youll also need to think about accommodation. For many road-trippers, camping is the perfect solution. That way, you can drive to anywhere, or even change your mind at the drop of a hat, without having to worry about getting to the hotel on time. Itll not only save you a great deal of time, not having to trawl through various accommodation sites and book lots of different places, itll also save you money. You often have enough to plan without having to think about where youll rest your head for the night. Take camping equipment with you and youll be able to set up your tent whenever you need a rest. It beats sleeping in your car and getting painful neck cramps for your trouble.

You can also pack some non-perishable food items to cook for your evening meals, meaning you can eat whenever youre hungry, and youll save money on rubbish motorway caf offerings.

Just remember to also pack your sleeping bag; no-one wants to freeze to death in a tent. Bring along a camping mat in case it rains, to save you from catching a cold, and spending your night face down in a puddle.
