The United States Should Learn To Share The Stage With China
According to an article published in the Chronicle Des Moines in the United States
, The United States needs China just as China needs the United States.
The trade between the United States and China has been up to $ 459 billion last year. Actually, China is the second largest trading partner to the United States and it has lent the largest sum of money to the U.S. Chinas purchase of American bonds has helped to save the economy. China has made reforms and China's emerging middle class are likely to buy American goods.
China has been accused of stealing American jobs. But it is not the Chinese peoples fault if the low-paid workers are willing to accept the job. In an era of opening the national borders, U.S. companies are seeking to exploit cheap labor in pursuit of maximum profit. However, with rising wages in China, some multinational companies have relocated factories from China to Vietnam and Cambodia, where labor is cheaper --- everyone knows how to play the game.
The United States and China are two major players in the world's market, and both of them need to accept the other's role. As to the U.S., this means to adjust the thinking and to recognize China as an emerging economic power. It should make it clear to China that "I respect you, but I hope you are a decent emerging power." This requires the understanding of the importance that the Chinese people have endowed to the reputation of. Take the view of a high school student in Beijing for example. When he asked what was the most important to Americans, peace, honor, or sovereignty, he believed that honor was paramount.
In the article, it is said that China was still evolving. If we want to see more reforms and to see Chinese democracy will be promoted to the level of the world line, we must continue to encourage China to reform and contact with it in such a manner. If we want to increase the population of China's middle class and encourage them to continue to buy our products, we should cancel some of the export bans. If we are worried that China may surpass the United States, we should invest to improve our level of education.
In a word, the United States should learn to share the stage with China. Up to now, the cooperation should be taken at the first place.
