The Use Of Voip Technology From Intellia Ltd
The use of VoIP is accelerating rapidly around the world and even if you haven't heard of it yet
, you soon will!
Basically the expression VoIP means Voice over Internet Protocol and this means that the analogue signals used in normal telephone calls is converted to digital signals which can then be transmitted across the Internet. The potential for this is enormous.
There are three ways in which you can use Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP):
ATA Gateway
ATA stands for Analogue Telephone Adaptor. You can install this device onto your telephone and use it for VoIP purposes even without it being digital. The handset attaches to your ATA, and your ATA connects to your computer, though your computer must be connected to the internet for this to work successfully. The function of the ATA is to convert analogue signals into digital signals to be used over the internet.
IP Phone
The IP Phone appears to look like normal a telephone, but use a different jack completely. The IP Phones are already configured with the software to use VoIP. These phones connect to the same router as your internet.
Peer to Peer (computer to computer)
This is the easiest way to use VoIP as it requires no software or hardware installation as long as you are connected to the internet and have the correct equipment. There are services provided by ISPs that include VoIP plans. If you want an uninterrupted quality whilst using this, you should use a separate VoIP plan rather than going back to your original internet connection. This is because VoIP needs a lot more bandwidth than needed for usual internet browsing.
Since all you need to use VoIP is a simple broadband connection, this means you can use VoIP whilst travelling, so this reduces any chance of having to pay for overpriced long distance phone calls. Another advantage to using VoIP is you can make your own network without having to use equipment like PBX etc. VoIP providers tend to come with a usage plan, which is great as it saves you more money. The price ranges between 30-60 a month for unlimited access.
You can also call any mobile or telephone (long distance or short) through VoIP phones. This is great as the receiver does not need any VoIP equipment, just a standard telephone. Features like call tracing, caller ID and call forwarding are also available in VoIP phones. You can put a local number to your VoIP phone and once connected to the internet, your good to go.
Overall it is obvious that VoIP is a simpler way to make long distant calls without a large phone bill waiting for you at the end of your trip!
