The Useful Tips For Expats Living In Property In Egypt

There are so many different things to get used to

, and so much that is unfamiliar to you. You have to adjust, make new friends, and find your place in your new community.

However, remember that you are not alone and there are many others who have made the same move to property in Egypt as you have. You can learn from their wisdom and their experiences in order to make the most of living abroad. Here are some helpful tips for expats who are living in Egypt properties:

- Egyptian people are warm, kind, gentle and have a wonderful sense of humour. Be open to meeting people and trying new things and you will likely make some fantastic new friends.

- It is not a good idea to drink tap water, wash fruit with it, or cook with it. Instead, wash your fruits and vegetables in white vinegar and water before eating them.

- Connect with others. Find a group of local expats in your community and start to socialize with them and make new friends. There might already be an established group who meets up for social activities, but if there is not perhaps you could make one! Making friends in your new home is a great way to help make adjusting to your new surroundings easier.

- Make your Egypt property feel like home. Bring in pictures of your loved ones and special items that are uniquely yours, so that you start to feel a connection with your new house.

- It is so expensive to import cars, especially late model ones, to Egypt that most expats find that it is cheaper renting a car when they need one.

- The best way to get around Cairo is on the subway system, as it is one of the best in the world.

- Did you know that veterinarians make house calls in Egypt? This is good to know if you are bringing your pet to live with you in your Egypt property.

- Remember that Egypt is an Islamic country, so women should dress modestly in public. Of course it is ok to wear a bathing suit at the pool or the beach, but elsewhere cover your legs, breasts and stomach as a sign of respect for the culture.

- Watch out for Egyptian taxi drivers, they do not seem to worry about obeying any of the traffic laws!

- When you are living here, take the opportunity to venture beyond your property and check out some of the other regions of Egypt. From the colourful coral reefs of the Red Sea to the stunning desert landscapes, it is a beautiful country with a lot to explore.

These are just a few tips for expats who are living in Egypt properties, which will hopefully make the experience easier, safer and more enjoyable.
