Cheesecake is a dish that is loved by many and hated by few

. It can be a great edible pick me up if you are feeling down, and makes one of the best deserts for any occasion. Cheesecake has been being made for a very long time and shows no signs of losing popularity.

Some History

The first known mention of cheesecake was from ancient Greece. From there it spread as Greece was conquered, and then other areas where it had spread to were conquered. Of course, some of the history of this dish is from the actual making of the cheese as well. Like most great things, cream cheese was an accidental discovery. It was then improved and eventually became what we know today.

The Different Types

There are a great number of different ways to make this dish. Each country has its own creations, and there are always some variants of each. In North America alone there are at least eight different ways to make it not including all of the different variations of each way. Most of the ones that are made around the UK, Ireland, New Zealand, and Australia are all the same type just different variations of it. There are also versions from Bulgaria, Italy, France, Greece, Sweden, Central Europe, Latin America, Asia, and Japan.

How it is Served

Most of the restaurant in the countries will offer cheesecake as one of their desserts. This is due to the popularity of the dish. All restaurants are out to make money in the end, so it benefits them to offer dishes that their customers want. There are also several fast food restaurants that offer this desert as well. This is a dish that is intended to be served cold so that the ingredients do not spoil, so if you ever get a piece that is not cold it is better to not eat it.

There are some companies such as The Cheesecake Factory that exist solely to make and sell this dish. While the previously mentioned company does now also offer some other things to accompany your desert, the majority of their business is based on this one dish that they offer. They have made a great amount of money from their business too.

In all, cheesecake may be a dish that has been around for a long while, but it is still a favorite of many. There are a lot of people that do not know the kind of history that they are dealing with whenever they indulge themselves in a piece, but that does not matter. The most important thing is that it is still around and does not appear to be losing any steam soon.
