The World Is Full Of Tattoo Ideas

Mankind has used tattoos to mark the skin since the dawn of time

. These marking usually meant something specific to wearer and other members of his/her tribe. However, as time has progressed, so too has the art of tattoos. Today, one can find tattoo ideas virtually anywhere in the world.

It continues to be a common practice to have tattoos applied that have specific meanings. Examples would be military groups having their insignia tattooed on their arms or convicts having tattoos applied that identify the crime they were convicted of, where they did their time, or any other feature commonly identified by "jailhouse" tattoos. Some organizations use tattoos to identify a person's rank within the organization and/or his/her accomplishments.

However, there is no rule that says tattoos have to mean anything. One can choose to have a particular picture or design reproduced on his/her skin simply because he/she is fond of that image. A person may have the name of a significant tattooed into their skin as a sign of devotion. They may have a photo tattooed in memory of someone that was special to them.

There are thousands of tattoo ideas that relate to what a person does for a living. Virtually any insignia that can be found on signs or on paper can be drawn into the skin. Sometimes, one may choose to link the tattoo with work in an amusing fashion. One example of this would be a photographer with the word "smile" tattooed on the side of his/her forefinger that is used to activate the camera shutter.

People often have images of certain popular cartoon characters tattooed. Beloved characters such as Mickey Mouse, Popeye the sailor, and others adorn the skin of thousands of people, men and women. They may also choose an item or a person from a favorite movie to create their own tattoos. Star Wars fans might have an imperial TIE fighter or a rebel X-wing drawn. The face of Darth Vader could be used as well.

Body art images can be found in the natural world. Virtually anything that can be photographed can become a pattern for a tattoo. Flowers, animals, and more have been used quite commonly. Even creatures from fantasy, such as dragons, make excellent starting points.

There are some famous artists today whose works began as tattoo ideas and grew from there. Images created solely in the mind of the artist and transferred to paper, then skin, are becoming more commonplace. Many of these have actually made the artists who designed them quite wealthy.

Images can also be depicted in different ways. Some are simple line drawings done in one color. Others are drawn and colored using a full range of colors to create a vivid image. It is up to the person having his/her skin tattooed which method is used. This is also often guided by the cost of the finished work as the full color tattoos can be very expensive.

The world of tattoo ideas is completely unlimited. If one can see it, either with the eyes or in the mind's eye, and reproduce it on paper, it can become a pattern for a tattoo. There are thousands of people who spend their time looking for fresh ideas and images to put on their bodies. They know that only the breadth of one's imagination can place limits on what is possible.

Of course, it is true that some images will only work on the broader expanse of the torso while many can placed anywhere on the body a person wants. This fact should be kept in mind when one is looking for tattoo ideas to adorn his/her own skin.
