The Worst In Celebrity Plastic Surgery - Cosmetic Travesties

Recently, Heidi Montag, 23-year-old co-star of MTVs The Hills

, made headlines by undergoing a staggering ten plastic surgery procedures in one day. The blonde media darling had been known for being pretty prior to surgery, yet she dramatically overhauled her appearance by having a rhinoplasty (nose job), breast augmentation with implants, chin reduction, and seven other cosmetic surgery procedures performed. Opinions as to whether she improved or destroyed her appearance have varied wildly in the weeks since she publicly unveiled her new look, once again placing celebrity plastic surgery in the headlines.

Of course, botched celebrity plastic surgery is nothing new. Prior to his untimely death in 2009, pop-superstar Michael Jackson became as well known for his unnatural appearance as for his music, sadly. Although qualified cosmetic surgeons can produce remarkably natural-looking results through rhinoplasty, blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery), facelift, neck lift, forehead (brow) lift, and other facial procedures, Jackson stood as a testament to the dangers of overindulgence in plastic surgery. Likewise, one-time beauty Melanie Griffith has transformed her face from glowing and radiant to an over-operated-on disaster, ironically making herself look years older than she really is.

Among the most public celebrity cosmetic surgery botch-jobs involve--surprise, surprise--the breasts. At the head of this line is Tara Reid, whose petite, perky boobs were once the envy of thousands of girls (and the objects of desire, no doubt, of thousands of men). She made the mistake that, unfortunately, many women make of overcompensating for smaller breasts, opting for breast implants that are overly large and disproportionate with the rest of her features. Several other female celebs have followed suit by getting lousy boob jobs, including Vivica A. Fox, Tori Spelling, Victoria Beckham, and--guess it runs in the family--Janet Jackson.

The lesson to be learned from these celebrity miscues is not to avoid cosmetic surgery if youre inclined to refine your appearance. Rather, make sure that you select your cosmetic surgeon very carefully, establish realistic goals and expectations, and--above all else--know when enough is enough.
