Yellowstone National Park is found in the United States. It was created in March, 1872. More than 318 species of birds have been documented in the park. The park lists only those birds that are residents of the area. The birds include geese, ducks and swans. These birds are adapted for aquatic life and have webbed feet to allow easy movement and floating in water. Their bills are flattened so that they are able to peak on small fish and other water reptiles for feeding.
Yellowstone National Park has other birds like Blue Grouse. These are terrestrial species and are variable in size. They are usually plump and have broader short wings. Most of them are game birds but humans consume them as food. There are around 180 of their species worldwide, while 5 of them are found in the park. The other group of birds found here are Grebes. They are small to medium large sized freshwater diving birds and also excellent swimmers. They are only 20 species in the world and 6 in the park.
Yellowstone National Park has another species of bird called the Cormorants. The birds are medium to large and are mainly aquatic. They have four toed feet and long bills that are thin and sharply hooked. There are 36 species in the world and 1 at the park. The next species of birds include the pelicans. They are very large water birds and have a distinctive pouch under the beak. They have four webbed toes. There are only 8 species in the world and 1 in the park. Other birds in the park include; hawks, kites, eagles, falcons, true owls, and cranes.
