It is provided under the constitution of India that the state shall follow the concept of equal work equal wages. But it seems this is just a paper entry and the state itself is not following this principle. They are employing people on daily wages, on work charge basis, on nerrick rates, contingent paid staff, people of ad hoc basis and people of on regular basis. We have noted that pay structure for all these categories are different. Now the states are employing people on contract wages and even here this are not paying them the same wages which their counterparts are getting when they are regular doing the same work and performing the same duties and having the same responsibilities.

The people in private sector are also discriminated and most of the people are left without pension and they get no benefit on retirement and often they starve in old age. The state was paying pension but since 2004 they are not paying pension to the employees who retire from service.

We have noted that there are different pay structures in government and in private sectors. When we have accepted the principle of equality and we have given this principle a prominent place in our constitution, we must follow this principle in letter and spirit. We should implement this principle and even people working in private sector must be covered by this principle. All working in the same cadre must get the same wages and there should be no difference in wages and retirement benefits. All must get pension so that they should lead a peaceful life in their old age. It is for the state to manage such affairs and the state has got the authority and they can pass laws and even they can implement this law. All must be placed in a suitable manner and all in the same capacity must get equal wages and equal service benefits and all must be covered, though they are even in private sector. And this must be done in India without any further delay because we have assured our people that we shall be implementing all the articles of the constitution.
