And it can be replaced if it's used up. The components of the cartridge are water, propanediol (lycerin), spice and liquid nicotine. The content of the propanediol which generates the smog reaches 60%. The smog background on the stage is also generated by the propanediol, lycerin and other chemical substances.

When people smoke the e-cigarette, the solution contained in the cartridge will be atomized after heat up. The content of the ejected smog is the propanediol and vapor. And the nicotine will be released to the lung.

Nicotine is not the cancerogen, but it's the main cause of the addiction. It's the neurotoxin which will stimulate the nerve and excite the smokers. But it's also toxic. Exceeding pure nicotine can lead to death.

In the early time, there's disagreement on e-cigartte that the content of nicotine is too high. The content in one piece of cartridge is about 20 milligrams. The content is tens of times of that of the real cigarette. Some manufacturers explained that the nicotine content in a cartridge is that of a box of cigarette. As it can be smoked for 300 times, it can't be compared with one cigarette.

The Wall Street Journal cites the opinions of some scientists that it's harmful to be exposed to the propanediol and vapor in the long term. Furthermore, FDA claimed in the report that some manufacturers replace the propanediol with the diglycol to decrease the cost. The diglycol is a kind of low toxicity chemical which is usually used for antifreeze. And the spice in the cartridge may tempt the young people to smoke.
