The oasis city of Al Ain
Following on from my recent entry about the dazzling wonders and excitement of Abu Dhabi, I thought now would be a good time to enlighten you about the potential that lies behind an Al Ain holiday.
Abu Dhabi is growing as popular as Dubai and the neighbouring city of Al Ain is yet another Middle Eastern delight recommended as an upcoming, exotic holiday destination.
A little known emirate located about 160km east of Abu Dhabi, this historical and cultural city oozes with museums, forts and palaces dating back hundreds of years. As it is also the site of the UAE University; businessmen, students and visitors alike are sure to be welcomed to this fascinating emirate.
Impressive sights to explore in the city include The Al Ain Palace Museum, the Jebel Hafeet Mountain, offering spectacular views over Al Ain and the surrounding area and the Al Ain Wildlife Park & Resort, which is home to over 4,000 rare and indigenous animals (look out for more articles about these places of interest soon!)
A main attraction point to Al Ain is its lush greenery and oases, which sets it apart from other desert areas in the UAE. The Al Ain Oasis allows you to explore the plush palm plantations and relaxing oasis springs act as cool respite from the hot climate you can expect to encounter.
Like other cities and emirates in the UAE, the best time to travel to this charming city is during the winter months; from October to late May when the warm but pleasant weather allows the city to bloom. Travelling at any other time is fine, but you'll need to take extra precautions to guard against the soaring temperatures.
Every January, the Al Ain Aerobatic Show is a huge tourist attraction, bringing over 150,000 extra visitors to the city. The 3 day spectacular features 15 aerobatic teams and performers from all over the globe.
I can recommend the InterContinental Resort when staying in Al Ain. This premier and central hotel allows you to enjoy the city while staying amid luxury and comfort.
Al Ain is a surprising city that offers so much a short break here is sure to be memorable.
