The world famous Torrey Pines Golf Course is a public golf course that belongs to the San Diego Municipality. The golf course sits on the edge of the San Diego coast bordering the glamorous La Jolla the Crownregion. This beautiful course is actually home to two golf courses known as the North Course and the South Course each one encompassing the standard 18 holes. Located exceedingly close to the city of San Diego the Torrey Pines Golf Course is only a twenty minute drive from the downtown area. The course is noted for its breathtaking ocean views and its difficulty. From among the North and the South course it is said that the North Course is the most picturesque. The Number Six hole is known among golfers as the courses signature hole. However the South Corse is regarded s being more technically challenging as players have to play into the sea wind, this section of the course has also benefitted from a 3.5 million dollar redevelopment program. This course was originally designed by William F. Bell and following the recent overhaul by Rees Jones in 2001, the course is now a par 72 at almost 7,000 meters in length. For visitors seeking to tee off at the course, the summer months may involve extremely long waiting lists. Sometimes golfers wait in queue from 6 pm the previous afternoon to play a round in the morning. However, the prices that are charged are not exorbitant and are meant to ensure that Golf lovers get the chance to realize their dream of playing at the venue that hosts the US PGA Buck Invitational. Being one of the most prestigious events on the US PGA the Torrey Pines has seen many famous players tee off among them are Tiger Woods, Jose Maria Olazabal, Ernie Els, Nick Price, John Cook, Craig Stadler, Nathan Green, Amy Alcott, Chris Riley and Luck Donald, Scott Simpson, Mark O'Meara, Corey Pavin, Laura Baugh, and John Daly. Being an area of great tourists activity especially since the sunny La Jolla community is nearby many
hotels in San Diego are located in this area. A number of
San Diego hotels in the city are also not more than half an hour drive away from the Torrey Pines and therefore offer great access for golfers.About the Author:
