The Tirupathi Temple Authority has recently included a new bullet directing towards another regulation on their disciplinary board,women need to enter the temple in traditional Indian dresses-Sarees & Salwar Kameez, in fact to prohibit exposure of body parts.Another attempt to keep women webbed in regulations.
India is a secular country, where our constitution ensures every citizen, right to practice any religion in any form they want. Tirupathi being one of the biggest pilgrimage imposing such an indiscriminating rule is an insult to the liberty of religion we are being guranteed.The physical appearance should not be a measure for the religious beliefs or devotion an individual has. Also Tirupathi being a place of public visit should not resist any person from entering the temple just because she is not in an Indian outfit.
This piousness is even inconsiderate of the numerous foreign tourists & visitors who visit Tirupathi all year round. It is illogical of the authority to expect the foreign ladies drape themselves in an Indian attire to visit a temple,because they haveall visual & sensory attractions towards the place,but devotional.
This kind of impositions at such place of tourism & religion, needs a better justification & consideration before being implemented.This can have an inhibitory effect on both the devotional minds of pilgrims creating a dire impact on their psychological ambience& the minds of foreign tourists & visitors,for whom visiting a place under disciplinary dressing rules contradictory to their own culture might be a burden.
