Mannequins have been used to sell items for years

, especially in clothing shops. Displaying clothes in the shop window or inside the shop itself is a great way of catching the customer's eye. Not only is it an opportunity for a customer who is looking for something specific to see that it is available, but the biggest benefit of displaying an outfit on a mannequin is that, done well, it creates a desire to own the outfit. Certain customers may not have considered purchasing it if they had just looked at it on a hanger. In fact, some clothes really do not have much hanger appeal and displaying them is a great way to promote them.

Of course, by dressing your mannequins thoughtfully with other items that you may sell, such as scarves, hats, jewellery and so forth you can increase the total value of a sale as the customer is far more likely to by the whole look that they have seen than they would if the individual items had been scattered about the shop. Anyone working in a clothing shop will know that many people simply cannot put together a whole look without a little help.
