Many people take for granted the convenient things in life that we do and see every day. One of the most taken for granted activity is how we comfortably stay in our own bathrooms at home. Most people shower every time they wake up and not think of how nice it is to feel refreshed while some do not have the luxury of running water at all. It is simply human to shower, after a quick swim in the ocean, a day at the gym or a long walk downtown- we just have to do the deed.
In these modern times, we often think that everyone is in the same place as we are. This is indeed, for a fact, not true since thousands of people bathe in a public murky river several times a year. Electricity has also been forgotten by many and refers to it as "something that is always there" and forget to unplug all cables and such- all of which can use up energy that contributes to the destruction of the environment.
The best way to put our feet back on the ground again and see the reality is by going on a camping trip. By living in a hiking tent without the luxury of a modern mattress, we will surely realize how lucky we are in the suburbs to not sleep on the dirt. Camping tents may be comfortable at some point, but nothing compares to the soft sheets at home. Camping equipment can run heavy at times especially if you don't carry a lightweight sleeping bag. So that will definitely teach everyone how light it is to carry grocery bags from the store to the parking lot. Camping supplies will only be limited to the needs for the trip; so all the luxury items such as shampoo and other gadgets will have to be left at home.
With all the convenience that we experience daily, we should be thankful that we are in a safe and comfortable place and not take anything for granted.
