, you are running the list of things that you did not want to forget thru your head. Food, pans, propane camp stove, matches, tripod grate, charcoal, lighter fluid and the list goes on. Tarps, awnings, chairs, etc. You"re trying to make sure that you got what you need to handle anything Mother Nature is going to throw at you. Of course shortly before you got there or shortly after arriving it starts to rain. Good old dad to the rescue even though it is harder to find help. What they don"t know is daddy is having a blast, because he got the family out of the house. A little rain never hurt anybody. Well I"m here to tell you that a family can still have a good time as long as you keep a positive attitude. Not only does it keep the families spirits up, it also can turn out to be a happy and rewarding experience. It is the simple things in life that are the most enjoyable. (1)Running and playing with the kids in the rain. Well you already got wet setting up camp. Make it count. There is nothing like playing croquet in the rain, tackle football or fishing off the dock. The fish don"t care if they get wet. It doesn"t matter what you do, there is a good chance your kids will remember the experience for a very long time. Just do it! (2)Can you breathe the fresh air? There is just something about the sensation to your senses that you experience shortly after a fresh rain shower. It seems to wash away everything else. (3)Care for a game of cribbage anybody? It seems like a lot of the card games start after the kids go sleep. A lot of couples are competitive and what better way to feel good than to beat your significant other in a game cards. Trust me it doesn"t always work out that way. The feeling I get watching the face of my spouse kick my butt is priceless too. If it"s going to happen, it might as well be her. (4)A hot cooked meal in the great outdoors, is there anybody hungry? If you have plenty of food and multiple ways to cook the food such as: Some type of grate or tripod for placing over the fire pit, this would be the fun way. Any charcoal grills setup, this would be great for steaks, burgers and hotdogs. Make sure you do not forget a reliable propane camping stove; this is the top choice for its dependability and the ease of operation. This is one of those things that come in handy when the others fail. (5)Kicking back and relaxing to the hypnotic sound of the rain pitter patting on everything it hits. I always notice how rejuvenated I feel after a nice nap, after I have been lulled to sleep by that beautiful noise. This formula seems to work and can be shuffled up to fit the circumstances you may encounter. It does not matter if you tent or "rough it" in a camper. If you camp in a tent, bring extra tarps, plastic sheathing or even bring one of those shelters for large groups. Cover everything. In the campers you are dealing with the awnings. It"s amazing how much more enjoyable it is if you are dry and warm. In conclusion, the family got out of the house. You played with the kids in the rain, giving them something they will remember the rest of their lives. You were outdoors when the rain stopped, letting you breathe that fresh air that you can only enjoy after a recent rain shower. You and the misses played a bit of cribbage. Realized why you brought the propane camp stove. When it"s raining you can"t beat it. Everybody"s got to eat! Last, but not least resting a bit after a long day. Yes, it is great to be alive. I can hardly wait until tomorrow.
