The C4 is a small family car produced by Citroen; the C4 is the successor to the Citroen Xsara and was introduced in 2004. Peugeot later released the 308 which was based on the same mechanical infrastructure as the C4.

The Citroen C4 has WRC running through its veins, its predecessor the Xsara was a multiple champion winning machine. The C4 itself was due to go rallying in 2005 but due a decision by the controlling PSA Group both Citron and stable mates Peugeot withdrew from works participation in the WRC.

The C4 finally made its debut in 2007 in the hands of the thrice world champion Sebastian Loeb and Junior World Rally Champion Dani Sordo. The Monte Carlo rally was its first official rally and both C4s finished 1 and 2, Loeb finished ahead of Sordo.

Since its debut Loeb has been able to secure the 2007, 2008, and 2009 drivers' title, with Citroen claiming the 2008 and 2009 manufacturers' championship.

The road going Citroen C4 is much more humble, it comes with 3 engine choices 2 diesels and a petrol. The VTR+ spec is the sportiest model and is available as a petrol and diesel. The diesel engines provide plenty of torque and low end grunt while producing excellent MPG figures.

The C4 shows its rally pedigree with its firm ride and superb body control through corners but like a true rally car it likes to react to potholes and bumps aggressively. The steering is light and accurate and provides adequate feedback.

As good as the road going C4 is, I wouldn't advise on going and buying a used Citroen C4 in Aldershot and start rallying through the country lanes of Surrey, the WRC C4 is a heavily modified and tuned machine driven by expert drivers.
