I live in Chennai and I am a bachelor. I am an engineer in a reputed organization. Cinemais the only entertainment. I find going to the movies and watching it together with my friends interesting. The only movie theatre that is good enoughto go toSathyam cinemas. It is suppose to be one of the best theatres in Chennai. Sathyam cinemas is the biggest cinema hall in the city where you can find thousands of consumers waiting in long queues at the ticket counter for tickets. Most of the time the theatre is house full. The reason is simple, certain people buy tickets in bulk and sell them just before the show at a higher price. This is called Black-ticketing'. This is a simple method adopted by vendors to earn money, and ultimately the consumers are the sufferers. What are the elements of a good cinema theatre? A good cinema theatre should be in a good location, the ambience and the infrastructure are some of the other important aspects that the consumers look for.

As soon as I entered the main gate of Sathyam cinemas, I was impressed by its huge parking lot.The parking was simply superb. The management had taken enough effort so that the consumers do not face any difficulties in parking their vehicles. They also have an annex parking place in case the main parking is full. But the parking in charge was rude to me and that was the irritating. Apart from the movie ticket fare, I had to pay parking charges of Rs.10 extra. The management could have spent some time and effort on working the service, but then may be they thought that it was just the parking lot. Or may be the management thought that nobody cared about the parking lot, because by the time consumers are done parking they are in a hurry to get into the theatre so that they do not miss the movie.

I reached the ticket counter after parking my car where I found the ticketing person. To rate him in the scale of arrogance, the ticketing person was slightly better than the security guards in the parking lot. I ordered 2 movie tickets for an English movie and he issued 2 tickets for a Tamil movie. Good thing I double checked the tickets and told him that he had issued it wrong. He blamed me that I was not clear about the name of the movie. He refused to cancel the ticket and instead he told me to sell it to some body else. I thought the management had trained these people on customer support and It was misfortunate that I was an exception to be treated this way so I just turned around and looked at the other counters to see how they were treated. Wow, I was surprised and felt happy that everyone else was getting the same treatment. I got into the multiplex after getting the ticket. The complex was amazing to look at with glass walls and glittering wall hangings. I moved to the entry gate with a hope that the person at the entry gate will be polite to me. But their attitude was no better than the security guards. They were also rude to me; I began to get the feeling that any person who treats me properly and is polite to me is god sent. And I felt that I was in Hitler's regime because these people were shouting at me for no reason. I thought may be they were all frustrated in life and they are jealous of the people who were in peace. Arrogance was something that I witnessed right from the minute I stepped my foot into the theatre.

I read in an article that Kiran Reddy, the owner of Sathyam cinemas was a calm man and I do not think he wanted something like this to happen to its consumers. Something must have gone wrong somewhere in making the management understand that consumer satisfaction was important or may be the management came to a conclusion that Sathyam cinemas is the best Chennai can get and the people here will accept any kind of worst service if offered to them. The management has to look into customer service and understand that the city demands better customer experience. It is time that the company starts researching on the needs of a common man. It will not just make Sathyam cinemas an uber cool destination but also make its consumers happy.
