2010 doesn't seem to have been the best year so far

. At the start of the year we were all snowed in and struggling to work through the horrible wintery conditions and un-gritted paths. Then there was the remains of the credit crisis, followed by the eruption of the Volcano in Iceland which grounded a number of planes across the United Kingdom and western Europe. Then to make matters worse there was a number of power outages across northern England over the half term holiday that caused massive disruption for a number of individuals. If there was ever a case for generator hire then this was definitely it.

Alton Towers, a theme park in central England which has a number of crowd pleasing attractions including Th13teen, Saw - the ride, Air, Nemesis and Oblivion was all set for a bumper half term holiday and looking like it was all set to enjoy record profits. However, all of that went down the pan when the park was hit by a number of terminal power cuts at the worst time, causing a large portion of the crowd in attendance to head for the customer service office to complain.

So how could the park have benefitted from generator hire? Well the problem for the park arose when a number of people attending the park got trapped on the rides during the power cut. A number of the reports and videos from customers who had attended the park lay claim that people had become stuck on the rides for up to forty five minutes, and in some cases in quite awkward positions and situations. Admittedly the company claims to have a number of power generators onsite, but I'm not sure if these had failed to charge or start or simply were faulty, but on this day in particular you can clearly see a number of individuals stranded up in the air, dangling down precariously above the ground. If the company had the use of a external power source, which they could have obtained through making use of a generator hire company, then they would have at least been able to return the ride to the start and remove stranded passengers.

According to some reports the power cuts happened on consecutive days and during what could be the parks busiest period and all the school children and their families had flocked towards the park. If the park was aware of an issue with the local power supplier then surely they should have looking into obtain some form of generator hire to ensure that customers were not placed in to a situation where they would experience discomfort.
