It is right to crucify a girl just because she got married with some one whom she
loved was from another gotra or religion? This question is tormenting the minds of many people who keep some resemblance to the society and who try to bring out the problems of our society in open and expose the reality. We have even given a name to such murders where the family members themselves kill their offsprings because of honour and pride, and they call it as honour killing.
What honour do we get in such shameless slaughter and butchering of their own blood? Our media definitely played a very significant role in bringing this honour killing to light and tried to be an eye-opener for the people.
The campaign started soon after Nirupama, a Delhi based journalist was found dead under mysterious circumstances in her house in Jharkhand. It took no time for the media to realize that this girl has been a victim to honour killing, just because she was in love with Priyanshu. who was from some other caste and Nirupama's parents and brother didn't wanted ti tie the knot with him. But, this brave girl didn't backed out as a result of which she got murdered by her own family. This is not just the story of one Nirupama, there are many Nirupamas in our country who are killed everyday just because they go against their family wish and marry the one whom they love.
Even the so called law makers of our society like Khap Panchayats are turning out to be goons and encouraging honour killing. Really shameful!
