Therese Obergottsberger: Elements Of Nature At Agora Gallery

Her soul stirred by the sparkling wonder of wildlife

, American artist Therese Obergottsberger translates her emotive responses to nature into illuminated, invigorating paintings. Working from her meticulously sharp photographs of lush, vivacious flora and fauna, the artist creates sumptuous, thorough and profoundly sculptural forms on her canvases. Through this scrupulous process, the viewer feels Obergottsbergers deep sensitivity towards nature, which in turn leads to a renewed kinship for the mysterious, ethereal beauty of their personal environment. No aspect of her subjects is unimportant to Obergottsberger, her painstaking brushwork warmly enchanting and expressively pristine through bold coloration. I find beauty everywhere and I paint what makes me happy and inspires me, she explains. I paint as the eye would see it; each branch, petal, drop of water or feather is its own painting. This simple, very human joy in observation and communication of a private vision of the larger world is a keenly engaging feature of these paintings, stimulating a sense of calm and tranquility in all who see the work.

Therese Obergottsberger lives and works in Hansville, Washington.

About the Exhibition

In The Odyssey Within viewers are introduced to art that takes the power of tradition and melds it with the thrilling novelty of the present. Charming, thought-provoking and intelligent, this is art with the ability to inspire. Pathway to Abstraction explores the force and creativity that consummate skill offers when combined with a feeling of daring and innovation. Lively, lovely and full of energy, the art contains both breadth and depth in terms of both content and technique. The artists of Sensorial Realms sensitively investigate the complex layers of human thought and imagination, yet remain carefully rooted in the physical world.
