Thermal switches can also be known as thermal reset or thermal cut-out. They can be designed to control the cooling system of electrical equipment, or many other applications where controls based on temperature measurement is required. Unlike the thermal fuses, they are reusable. They can be used in power supplies in overload cease, and make an electrical circuit which can allow a cooling fan to operate in heating and cooling systems. There are three types of thermal switches provided by Control Products: SnapStat (0F-350F), PlugStat (0F-650F) and Rod and Tube (0F-1750F). Here are some details about them.
SnapStat (0F-350F)
Set Point Range: 0F - 350F (-17.8C 177C)
These switches provide both control and indication functions at the same time. They can also be used as a SPST thermal switch. The calibration temperature of these switches ranges from 0F to 350F with a tolerance of +/- 7F. SnapStat switches can be used for mounting, probe and termination options for industrial applications such as air compressors, distilling machines, food extruders, steam cleaners, clutches, brakes, transmissions, escalators and elevators. The base of these switches is made thin for good heat conductivity and the snap disc is made of aluminum. Glass to metal hermetic sealing makes a SnapStat ideal and demanding for industrial and military applications.

Set Point Range: 0F - 650F (-17.8C 343C)
These switches are based on a two-layer alloy leaf. They can be used as temperature controllers, safety cut-offs for equipment protection, and indicators of overheat conditions in industrial applications. These switches are also known as a slow-make-and-break device because they can provide very loose tolerance temperature sensing.

These switches can work in probe ambient temperatures from -65 to 2000F. Rod and Tube thermal switches are designed to withstand severe shock and vibration with no shift in calibration. They are mainly used in harsh applications like jet engines, gas turbines, rail road switch, ram air temperature systems, flame detectors, after-burners, diesel stack over-heat sensors, extruders, electronic heating and cooling systems.
