I like Thesis theme a lot. It does more than your conventional theme, and in fact self-labels itself as more of a 'framework' than a theme.. I've used Thesis for 15 months now, and I'm active in the Thesis community. I use Thesis on almost all my sites, chiefly for its SEO capabilities (it's the finest SEO wordpress theme bar none). I suggest checking this out right away, simply because if you invest in the Developer's license for thesis ahead of Chris releases 2.0, you get a no cost upgrade to it once it is released. So this is a good deal because the price of 2.0 is going to increase.
I'm a big fan of Thesis, and when I speak with anybody starting up a blog or a web site, I recommend they a) use Wordpress and b) Use Thesis theme on top of wordpress. If you're at all serious about your website - particularly if you plan on earning money from your website - think about getting Thesis.
