The AVO No. 2 I am smoking is burning quite evenly at the moment. As I stare into the embers, I think about just how many cigars I have indulged in over the years and all the good experiences I had with them: sharing conversations over a good smoke, wishing I could have new ones with some old departed friends. Cigars are like hourglasses, they time your relaxation. They make you pause and reflect, allowing you and everyone else to envision your schedulea lit cigar means come back in an hour. But I digress.

The point I am trying to make is that this AVO cigar has also allowed me to contemplate about each cigar I am thankful for this year. Disclaimer: I am not very good at breaking down a cigar like some seasoned pros. I cannot tell you that the first third had tastes of pepper and chocolate with scents of vanilla and lemongrass. I can, however, tell you whether I enjoyed the cigar or not.

The first cigar I am thankful for is the Oliva Serie O. I have only had a few this year, and to be honest I am not sure why I didnt have more. Every minute smoking them was like heaven. They drew amazingly well, burned evenly, and tasted delicious.

Another favorite was the Arturo Fuente 8-5-8. A bit milder, but still spectacular. It was smooth as silk and had a slight nutty flavor. You can bet that there are a lot of these hanging out in the humidortheyre great to share because it is extremely versatile. Just about anyone would love this cigar!

This list could not be complete without mentioning the Rocky Patel Sun Grown. One of my trusted, true go-to sticks. I have never (and I mean never) had a bad experience smoking one of these. My old reliable!

A newbie for me is the Padilla 1932. A great classic medium-bodied cigar with smooth smoke and a nice burn from start to finish; what more could you possibly ask for? Lets just say that in the past year I have probably nubbed hundreds of these

Looks like my AVO is nearly finished, which means it is time to come to some conclusion. I sincerely wish all of you a fantastic, cheerful holiday season filled with warmth and comfort (and hopefully some stogies!).

What could be better than good health, great food, nice company, and amazing cigars? I am willing to bet that nothing is.
